Frequently asked questions

How can I send crypto using this feature?

  1. Download the Coinbase Wallet mobile app if you don’t already have it.

  2. Select Send on the home screen.

  3. Select the amount and cryptocurrency you would like to send (limited to the list above).

  4. Click on the Send via link banner and confirm all the details are correct, then click Create. The funds will be immediately removed from your wallet.

  5. Once the link has generated and appears on the next screen, copy the link and share it with the intended recipient. You can also use the Share button to automatically open your preferred app to share the ink. The recipient will be able to access the funds without the need to add “gas” (such as ETH or MATIC) to their wallet.

How much does it cost?

This is a free feature as Coinbase Wallet pays all the network fees to send your crypto.

Will the recipient need to pay anything?

No. This is a free feature and Coinbase Wallet will pay all the network fees.

Which cryptocurrencies are supported?

The following cryptocurrencies are supported for sending via link, and we plan to enable support for more in the future. 

  • Native USDC on Base

  • ETH on Base

  • Native USDC on Polygon

  • Bridged USDC on Polygon

  • MATIC

I misplaced the link that I generated. How can I retrieve it back?

To locate a generated link:

  1. Open the Coinbase Wallet mobile app.

  2. Select the Transactions tab.

  3. Locate and select the relevant transaction.

Select See claim link.

I changed my mind and want to cancel the transaction. How can I do that?

If the funds have not been claimed and you’d like to cancel the transaction, follow the steps to locate a generated link (if you don’t have it), access the link, then select Claim now. The funds will be added back to your wallet.

My recipient did not claim the funds. How can I get my funds back?

If the funds remain unclaimed for two weeks, we automatically send the cryptocurrency back to your wallet.

I just received a link. How can I claim my funds?

To claim your funds:

  1. Click on the link.

    1. If you don’t have a Coinbase Wallet, you’ll be taken to the iOS or Android store to download the Coinbase Wallet app.

    2. If you do have a Coinbase Wallet, select Create new wallet or I already have a wallet if you want to import your recovery phrase from other wallet providers like MetaMask, Trust, Phantom etc.

  2. A tray will pop-up to show the amount that has been sent to you. Select Claim now to claim the funds.
